Highly Insulated Lightweight Timber Solution
The Warmer Roof is made up from a timber framework section, either shaped or rectangular, which forms a structural link between both the eaves and ridge. The timber framework is supported by a specially produced and engineered Glulam eaves beam which provides incredible structural strength, long term durability and performance. This is attached to the head of the window frames and finished off externally with fascia board and an ‘Ogee’ decorative gutter system. All roof pods are factory pre-assembled using C24 roof grade timbers and have been structurally designed by our specialist engineers. All pods are covered externally with a plywood / OSB outer skin for extra rigidity and strength.

Guidance on solid roofs to conservatories or porches
Homeowners are looking for a cost effective way of retaining existing floor space whilst improving the energy efficiency of the structure. To meet this need homeowners are choosing to replace obsolete translucent roofs with solid ones.
This guidance has been produced to advise and inform suppliers, builders, architects and design consultants on the Building Regulations that will apply to the replacement of a translucent roof to a conservatory or porch with a solid roof.
The preferred option for many homeowners is a lightweight composite solid roof. Some roofs have a LABC Registered Detail that provides an approved design, quality control and accredited installation. Other options may simply under-draw or over-clad existing poly-carbonate roofs. Or replace the existing roof with a traditional tiled roof that may not have taken into account the adequacy of the existing structure to carry increased loading.

FAQ
Is a warm roof better than glass or polycarbonate?
Absolutely. Warm roofs offer superior thermal insulation, preventing your conservatory from being too hot in summer or freezing in winter. They also reduce glare and noise from rain, making your space far more comfortable.
Can the Warmer Roof system be used for porches as well as conservatories?
Yes, the Warmer Roof system is suitable for porch roof replacements, not just conservatories. It offers the same energy efficiency, structural strength, and aesthetic appeal to porches of various shapes and sizes.
How long does a conservatory roof replacement take?
The entire process typically takes just a few days, with minimal disruption to your household. We handle everything from removal to plastering and electrics—usually within 5–7 working days.
Does replacing a conservatory roof require planning permission?
In most cases, planning permission is not required—especially if you’re replacing an existing roof with a like-for-like solid alternative. However, we provide full guidance and handle compliance with Building Regulations for peace of mind.
What’s included in the Warmer Roof installation?
Our comprehensive installation includes removal of the old roof, fitting a lightweight insulated timber frame, adding roof tiles, insulation layers, plastering, optional electrics, and final certification—all project-managed by our expert team.
Can a new conservatory roof really improve energy efficiency?
Yes. A Warmer Roof significantly improves U-values, helping your home retain heat. Many customers report lower energy bills and better year-round usability after installation.
Will replacing my porch roof improve insulation and security?
Absolutely. A solid insulated roof helps reduce drafts and heat loss in the porch area—especially useful if your porch connects directly to your front door. It also provides a more secure and weather-resistant structure.
Will the new roof match the style of my home?
Yes. We offer a choice of external tile finishes, fascia boards, and guttering styles to ensure the new roof blends seamlessly with your property.
Is the Warmer Roof system building regulation compliant?
Yes, it is. The system is fully tested and approved to meet all current thermal and structural Building Regulations. Many options are also LABC-registered for fast approval.
Can I install lights or spotlights in the new ceiling?
Yes. The ceiling is finished with plasterboard suitable for integrated lighting, and we can install electrics and downlights as part of the package if required.
Is a Warmer Roof suitable for all conservatory types?
We can adapt the system for Victorian, Edwardian, lean-to, P-shaped, and other conservatory shapes. We’ll assess your existing structure to confirm compatibility before installation.
Is it worth replacing just a porch roof?
Definitely. A new insulated roof can refresh the look of your property, enhance kerb appeal, and improve insulation in your entrance area—all with minimal disruption and a relatively small investment.
